THE BIRDS ~155 million years

Birds (class Aves) are winged, bipedal, endothermic (warm-blooded), vertebrate animals that lay eggs. There are around 10,000 living species, making them the most numerous tetrapod vertebrates. They inhabit ecosystems across the globe, from the Arctic to the Antarctic. Birds range in size from the 5 cm (2 in) Bee Hummingbird to the 3 m (10 ft) Ostrich. The fossil record indicates that birds evolved from theropod dinosaurs during the Jurassic period, around 150–200 Ma (million years ago), and the earliest known bird is the Late Jurassic Archaeopteryx, c 150–145 Ma. PANGAEA between ~270 and ~200 million years

Pangaea, Pangæa, or Pangea (from Ancient Greek "entire", and Gaia "Earth", Latinized as Gæa) was the supercontinent that existed during the Paleozoic and Mesozoic eras about 250 million years ago, before the component continents were separated into their current configuration.

THE FLYING VERTEBRATES  ~220 million years

Pterosaurs (from the Greek pterosauros, meaning "winged lizard", often referred to as pterodactyls, from the Greek pterodaktulos, meaning "winged finger") were flying reptiles of the clade or order Pterosauria. They existed from the late Triassic to the end of the Cretaceous Period (220 to 65.5 million years ago). Pterosaurs are the earliest vertebrates known to have evolved powered flight. Their wings were formed by a membrane of skin, muscle, and other tissues stretching from the legs to a dramatically lengthened fourth finger. Early species had long, fully-toothed jaws and long tails, while later forms had a highly reduced tail, and some lacked teeth. Many sported furry coats made up of hair-like filaments known as pycnofibres, which covered their bodies and parts of their wings. Pterosaurs spanned a wide range of adult sizes, from the very small Nemicolopterus to the largest known flying creatures of all time, including Quetzalcoatlus and Hatzegopteryx. 葉是高等植物的營養器官，側邊發育自植物的莖的葉原基。葉內含有葉綠體，是植物進行光合作用的主要器官。同時，植物的蒸騰作用也是通過葉的氣孔實現的。

種子植物傳統被分為包含了被子植物門的被子植物和包含了蘇鐵門、銀杏門、松柏門和買麻藤門的裸子植物兩種。被子植物在現在被認為是演化自裸子植物的，這使得裸子植物若包含進已滅絕的物種時，會變成一個併系群。然而，即使已知不是一個單系群的分類單位了，但「裸子植物」還是依舊被廣泛地使用在指被子植物門以外的四種非開花種子植物上。

昆蟲的分類比其他動物都要多，至少有五百萬種。一般的昆蟲都有六隻腳，牠們的骨骼在軀體外面。約在三億八千萬年前(泥盆紀)，發現首批少量無翅的昆蟲化石，如彈尾蟲和蜘蛛類。生活在陸上的昆蟲正式出現於三億三千萬年前(石炭紀)，牠們多數長有翅膀，有蟑螂類和蜻蜓類，是最早進化具飛行能力的動物。節肢動物的昆蟲類在二億七千萬年前(二疊紀)趨於興盛，同時出現了某些接近現代的新種類，甲蟲類亦在二疊紀晚期出現了。大約一千種以上昆蟲產生在一億八千萬年前(侏羅紀)，如蠐螬類、樹虱類、蠅類和蛀蟲類，而蝶類、蜂類、蝗類、蟋蟀類等亦於侏羅紀晚期相續出現，大多數都延存到現代。一般昆蟲的遺體比其他動物較難保存下來，連有翅膀的昆蟲化石更為罕有。
